Ms. Ruby Davis, age 97, a long-time resident of the Montgomery area, died Wednesday the 10th of May at Jackson Hospital. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Davis of Oneida, TN. Born in 1919, Ruby graduated high school from the Scott County Tennessee Public School System. After graduating from high school in 1937, Ruby worked in her father's general store in Oneida until she was hired by the Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge, TN where she worked for many years. Retiring from the Atomic Energy Commission in Las Vegas, NV in 1971, Ruby moved to Montgomery to be closer to family. Ruby was a committed Christian and a dedicated member of Morningview Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School. In her spare time Ruby enjoyed sewing and reading. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters: Blanche Davis, Jewell Roberts, and Johnnie Ruth Glenn. Ruby is survived by her three nephews: Scott Glenn, William Roberts (Nicole), and Thomas Roberts (Claudette). The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of the John Knox Nursing Home for the loving care they gave Ruby in her final years. Special thanks also to Marie Johnston, her room-mate and friend during her final years at John Knox Manor. A private graveside burial service will be conducted by the family at Greenwood Cemetery with Leak Memory Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service commemorating Ruby's life will be held at Morningview Baptist Church on Monday, May 22nd at 11 AM. .
