Philip Westman Crowder, age 82 of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away May 12, 2017 at 5:33PM. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 1:15PM - 2:00PM at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the chapel with Robert Lindsey officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Philip was born on September 25, 1934 on Martha Street and was raised in Oak Park. He served as an altar boy at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Philip Westman Crowder, age 82 of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away May 12, 2017 at 5:33PM. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 1:15PM - 2:00PM at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the chapel with Robert Lindsey officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Philip was born on September 25, 1934 on Martha Street and was raised in Oak Park. He served as an altar boy at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Philip attended St. Mary's of Loretta and Auburn University and received his B.A. from Huntington College and graduated Dean's List. He worked his way through college as a youth camp counselor with YMCA and Belser and also instructed many of Montgomery's area youth in swimming, diving, skiing and tennis. He was a CPCU with Travelers Insurance (previously USF&G) for fifty plus years. Philip was a devoted father, loving husband and ardent War Eagle fan and the ultimate gentle gentleman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Crowder Magnusson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Terrell Crowder Jr. (Lenora Brown); his brothers, William "Billy" Terrell Crowder III, Lawrence "Gene" Eugene Crowder, Robert Laslie Crowder; his sisters, Gloria Catherine Crowder Wesson and Doris Marie Crowder Boan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Page "Perky" Crowder, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Rexford Page (Christine Blackburn) of Birmingham; his sister, Lenora Ann "Nonie" Crowder Shankweiler; his sister-in-law, Inabelle Godwin Crowder; cousins-in-law, Roger Page Whitaker, Dr. Michael Sadler; numerous nieces and nephews; and precious Lacey-SweetPea. Pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Sadler, Roger Page Whitaker, Joe Crowder, Bill Urquhart, Eddie Wesson, Wesley Boan, and Cabell Reeves. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of Alabama, Dalraida UMC, or Montgomery Catholic School. A special thank you to all my nieces and nephews, my loving cousins, Dr. James Allen and my wonderful friends.
