Montgomery Alabama lifetime resident, D. Leon Bozeman, Jr., 93, died September 22, 2012 at his home in Montgomery. Mr. Bozeman was born Dec. 23, 1918 in Montgomery, AL to D. Leon, Sr. and Zelena Louise (Kelly) Bozeman. He was the oldest of five children. Mr. Bozeman was a life long member of the Church of Christ, currently attending Dalraida Church of Christ. Private First Class D. L. Bozeman, Jr. served as a rifleman in Charlie Company 134th Infantry Regiment in Europe during WWII. He was captured in Bastogne, Belgium and became a decorated POW. He...

Montgomery Alabama lifetime resident, D. Leon Bozeman, Jr., 93, died September 22, 2012 at his home in Montgomery. Mr. Bozeman was born Dec. 23, 1918 in Montgomery, AL to D. Leon, Sr. and Zelena Louise (Kelly) Bozeman. He was the oldest of five children. Mr. Bozeman was a life long member of the Church of Christ, currently attending Dalraida Church of Christ. Private First Class D. L. Bozeman, Jr. served as a rifleman in Charlie Company 134th Infantry Regiment in Europe during WWII. He was captured in Bastogne, Belgium and became a decorated POW. He received 3 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts and earned his Combat Infantrymen Badge. Mr. Bozeman was one of the oldest living WWII POW veterans prior to his death. Mr. Bozeman retired (40 years) from L & N Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer with a spotless record. Mr. Bozeman was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Wanda Bozeman; wife of 21 years, Merle Bozeman, one sister, Louise Park and two brothers; Luther Bozeman and Terry Bozeman. Mr. Bozeman is survived by one brother, Harold (Sara) Bozeman, three children; Wayne Leon (Sue Carol) Bozeman Sr., Ronnie H. (Patty) Bozeman, Sr., Marsha (Danny) Raines, eight grandchildren; Lorri (Mike) Noble, Valla Johnston, Wayne L. (Megan) Bozeman, Jr., Woody (Laurie) Bozeman, Lacy Bozeman, Melissa Fuller, Ronnie H. Bozeman, Jr., Micah Bozeman and fourteen great grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. A special thanks to Jaunia Pearson, caretaker and Jennifer Holley. Mr. Bozeman's only illness was Macular Degeneration, a truly blessed "Old Timer". The family will receive friends at Leak Memory Funeral Home Sept. 25 from 2:00-3:00 with funeral service at 3:00. Pallbearers are Wayne L Bozeman, Jr., Woody L. Bozeman, Ronnie H. Bozeman, Jr., Heath Woodruff, Cole Noble, Michael Johnston, Jr., Logan Bozeman, and Dawson Bozeman.
